Yet another success for our team in JUVE Patent's Germany ranking 2024

Our firm has been rated three stars in the “Litigation” ranking. JUVE explicates WR as "well positioned for patent disputes because the patent attorneys and lawyers work closely together."  JUVE further states: "The large base of prosecution clients regularly turns to the firm for comprehensive litigation." In addition, our firm continues to be one of the recommended entities in the “Patent Filing” ranking, which is carried out without evaluation.

The partners and our whole team are very happy about this renewed recognition.

Our partners Dr. Christiane Maxien and Dr. Mathias Ricker have once more also been recommended individually.

The analysis in detail reads as follows:

JUVE Comment

This German IP firm is well positioned for patent disputes because the patent attorneys and lawyers work closely together. The large base of prosecution clients regularly turns to the firm for comprehensive litigation. Although the lawyers have increased their visibility in recent years, the much larger team of patent attorneys is still better known. This is the result of its constant presence in EPO oppositions, for example in the automotive sector and in computer-implemented inventions and AI. The latter two are also future fields in which the firm, after the successful generational change, is seizing its growth prospects.

The fact that chemical companies currently have to operate in a difficult economic environment is having an impact on prosecution activity. But the innovative field of green energy and the transformation of Wallinger Ricker’s clients in this area also offers new opportunities for prosecution work. In addition, the life sciences practice with regular clients such as Boehringer Ingelheim also expanded its client base.

European set-up

The independent IP firm has a well-established team of patent attorneys and lawyers for litigation, but it has so far been involved much more often in national litigation and only rarely in pan-European proceedings. Like its competitor Weickmann & Weickmann, Wallinger Ricker Schlotter Tostmann has not yet been entrusted with proceedings at the UPC. This is also because many clients want to wait for the court’s initial decisions before enforcing their own patents there. However, with its compact approach Wallinger Ricker would be in a good position to represent its core clients here, primarily from the automotive and life sciences sectors, but also smaller clients from various sectors whose products have a broad market. To increase its capacities for such proceedings, the firm has strengthened its team with a young lawyer.

Strengths

Litigation predominantly for the automotive sector. Pharmaceuticals patents.
